Good Evening and welcome. I’m Joni! The Executive Director of the Business & Education Alliance. Every year I look forward to this event. I have the opportunity to speak to so many of you – so many times – prior to tonight, that I am proud to have added over 200 “new friends” to my life. I’m pleased to finally meet you all (if I haven’t already) and VERY pleased that you could all join us this evening.

I would like to thank our signature sponsors – Flemington Car & Truck Country and The Somerset Patriots – in particular Steve & Suzanne Kalafer – for ALL they have done for the Hunterdon County Schools over the years and their support of The Alliance and me! I’d also like to thank PNC Bank, Frank Fuzo, for their generous contribution to tonight’s awards dinner.

I’m so happy that you all completed your US Savings bond forms! You made my life much easier this year! The “original” Savings Bonds will be mailed directly to you from the U.S. Treasury. Each student will receive a Savings Bond “certificate” in their award packets tonight. Please anticipate some time before you receive the original bonds. You know how the U.S. Treasury works! If you have any other forms with you this evening, please make sure you turn them in before you leave.

Special thanks to the Hunterdon County Polytech Culinary Arts students for their “distinguished” contribution in making tonight a huge success. Without their continuing support, we would not be here this evening.
I’d like to recognize Kate Nugent, Vice President of the H.C. School Boards Association. (She’s wearing two hats tonight – she’ll be presenting the Matthew Smith Memorial Scholarship Award later on AND she’s also the proud mother of one of our Distinguished Students. To ALL of my Board members ….thank you for your assistance and support. Please stand and be recognized and thanked for everything you do. (Lisa, Dennis, Frank, Mike Shaddow)
In my eyes, the Distinguished Student award is an incredible honor to you all. An award you should be especially proud and honored to have received. The commitment of our sponsors and all they do “behind the scenes” is a “personal” commitment on their part.

At this time, I’d like to introduce Kate Nugent, Vice President of the HC School Boards Association, for a quick welcome to you all.

**Thank you Kate***

Now, it’s time for us to enjoy the meal!
I’d like to introduce Dennis Cox, Superintendent of HC ESC, and Steve Kalafer for the awards presentations.
